With his debut album, Skyview, set for 2020, the singer reflected on his journey took him to this precipice, and how he’s ready to share “where [he’s] from” with all his followers as he takes the next step towards where he’s going next.

“[Lil Wayne] says ‘I wear my heart on my sleeve so don’t be breaking my arm,’” says AJ Mitchell when describing the tattoo he has on his arm. “It’s kind of a funny reference. But this one you know, this really reminds me to you know, see the beauty in the struggle. To see the beauty through the hard times and when you’re going through a hard time, just remember you know, you always learn from it.”

“I want this album to kind of let people know where I came from,” AJ Mitchell says of his debut release, Skyview. “And who I am as an artist, because I feel like a lot of people don’t know that side of me and a lot of people don’t know where I came from. And I think it’s really important with the music that I’m releasing, that people would know that.”

“I released called ‘Down in Flames,’” says AJ Mitchell. “For me that song is about communication and to be able to you know, talk how you’re feeling with another person. And I kind of wrote that song because you know, I saw two people that, are really close to me get in a really bad argument…it takes years for a relationship to be built and then in just one argument, it can just all go away.”
AJ Mitchell Has A Leg Up On Life
“I feel like I’m a lot more comfortable with it than I used to,” says AJ Mitchell. “I’m finally understanding who I am. I’m at this point where I know what music is, I know what the music is. I know what I want to talk about. So, it feels, it feels really good and you know, everything is coming together.”
AJ Mitchell Considers The Future
“It’s super amazing.” AJ Mitchell says of performing, specifically at the KIIS Jingle Ball. “Especially when I go and you know, when I look out in the crowd and people are singing my songs back….So, I’m going to show up like, I don’t know, who’s going to know who I am or who’s going to know my songs. When I see people singing back songs, especially songs that I’ve written It’s like the best feeling in the world.
