Avan Jogia stopped by HollywoodLife’s New York City offices to discuss his first book ‘Mixed Feelings’ and his new movie ‘Zombieland: Double Tap.’ He released his first book, which is a collection of poems and stories, on Sept. 17, 2019. The book explores complicated emotions around race, identity, religion, and family through poetry and imagery. Avan recently went on a book tour for ‘Mixed Feelings’ that took to 10 cities across the United States and Canada. In addition to his book, Avan currently has a new movie that’s being released on Oct. 18: ‘Zombieland: Double Tap.’ The movie is the highly-anticipated sequel to the hit 2009 movie. ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ also stars Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin. Avan Jogia On His Book ‘Mixed Feelings’
‘There’s nothing that I didn’t include in the book. It’s incredibly personal,” Avan said about ‘Mixed Feelings.’
Avan Jogia On His Biggest Challenge With ‘Mixed Feelings’
Avan admitted that ‘being my own boss’ was his biggest challenge. ‘I’m the kind of artist that works in a maelstrom of sound and fury,’ he said.
Avan Jogia On Poetry
‘Poetry for me is about being vulnerable and open and exposing yourself to the audience as who you really are,’ he said. Avan includes poems that he wrote in ‘Mixed Feelings.’
Avan Jogia On Deadlines
‘If there’s a deadline, then I’m not touching it until two weeks before the deadline,’ he said. ‘You won’t see me for two weeks. I think that’s how most people operate.’
Avan Jogia On ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’
The producer of the movie was the producer of ‘Twisted,’ the series that Avan starred in. His character covers famous songs and tries to make out like he wrote them.
