The 2022 Winter Olympics began on Feb. 4, 2022 in Beijing, China. More than 2,000 athletes gathered at the Beijing National Stadium to kick off the games. Competitors in skiing, hockey, snowboarding, bobsledding, figure skating and dozens of more events were recognized as they prepared for the biggest competition of their lives. The athletes walked around the stadium as Chinese traditions were sprinkled throughout the evening.
This year’s winter Olympics last from Feb. 4 until Feb. 20. Some notable American athletes who are competing in the Games include Shaun White, Chloe Kim, Nathan Chen and more. The Olympic Games will be broadcast on NBC. Due to the time difference between Beijing and the U.S.A., the major events will air in primetime, hours after they initially took place in China.
