Bo Obama was a beloved member of the former first family, being adopted by Barack and Michelle just months before moving into the White House. According to the Presidential Pet Museum, the hypoallergenic pup was gifted to Sasha and Malia by from Senator Ted Kennedy. Over the years, Bo was often at Barack’s side for walks, jogs and more casual moments at-home. Sadly, Bo passed away after a battle with cancer in May 2021.
“For more than a decade, Bo was a constant, gentle presence in our lives—happy to see us on our good days, our bad days, and everyday in between,” Barack Obama wrote via Twitter. “He tolerated all the fuss that came with being in the White House, had a big bark but no bite, loved to jump in the pool in the summer, was unflappable with children, lived for scraps around the dinner table, and had great hair.
