On Tuesday, members from the cast of MTV’s ‘Awkward,’ which is nominated for a People’s Choice Award for ‘Favorite Cable TV Comedy,’ visited a senior center in Los Angeles to get a group of eager seniors wired as part of DoSomething.org and Intel’s Grandparents Gone Wired campaign. The campaign encourages teens to teach their grandparents and other seniors how to use technology like Facebook, Skype and email in order to better keep in touch during the holidays and beyond. Led by Jillian Rose Reed, cast members Brett Davern, Nikki Deloach, Desi Lydic, Mike Faiola, Kelly Sry, and Wesam Keesh spent the morning sharing laughs and stories with the seniors as they showed them how to use technology to stay in touch with their friends and relatives. After Jillian, Brett and Desi walked one senior, Verna, through setting up a Facebook profile and requesting friends, she posted her first status update: “I’m Alive!”
