Jingle Bell rock! Carrie Underwood was just one of the stars who performed at the 89th Annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 1. The country star stunned in a sleeveless red dress with a sequin top and full tulle bottom that came to her knees, along with a pair of matching pumps. She wowed the crowd with a rendition of “Let There Be Peace”.
The annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is always star-studded, and this year was no exception. Alessia Cara, Brad Paisley, and Pentatonix joined Carrie as performers at this years’ event, held in Manhattan on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
The New York tradition of the Rockefeller Christmas tree began way back in 1931, while the ceremony began in 1933. The event was first televised in 1951.
As always, the event was hosted by ‘TODAY’ co-anchors Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Al Roker and Craig Melvin who helped unveil the 79-foot tall, 46-foot wide Norway Spruce adorned with more than 50,000 multi-colored energy-efficient LED lights and topped with a stunning Swarovski star.
