Daniel is best known as an R&B singer and songwriter. He is of Barbadian and Jamaican descent and was born and grew up in Canada. His father was a gospel singer, releasing his first album in high school in Jamaica. Daniel, whose real name is Ashton Simmonds, released his first EP ‘Praise Break’ in 2014 before he went on to release his debut studio album, ‘Freudian’ in 2017 and has had the opportunity to write for others artists, including Mary J. Blige.
He has been nominated for and won numerous awards for his musical talent, including two 2018 Soul Train Awards and a 2019 Grammy Award.
He made headlines in Sept. 2019 when it was announced he was going to be the wedding singer for Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin’s Sept. 30 wedding of the same year.
