Celebrity trainer Adam Rosante, who has trained celebs like Naomi Watts, told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that each celeb is different, but many of his clients work out with him 4 to 5 days per week.

For “normal” people, he said: “Commit to weight training 3 to 4 days, each week, with a portion of at least 2 of those sessions dedicated to high-intensity work that gets your heart racing.” He recommends doing weights first, then cardio, “as you don’t want to lift in a fatigued state.”

But it’s not just about working out! It’s actually about your diet more than anything: “Weight loss is primarily driven by food. It’s simple science. Always remember, you can’t out-train a bad diet. If you’re looking to get in great shape, keep your nutrition in check.”

Since a great diet and a heart-racing workout go hand-in-hand for weight loss, Adam told us:

“While it’s perfectly fine to work out on an empty stomach, each person is different and you have to listen to your body. What’s most important is that you’re able to push yourself in your workout. So, if you feel like you’re lacking energy, have a light snack consisting of fat and carbs about 30-minutes before you train. Something like a teaspoon of nut butter and piece of fruit is perfect.

Post-workout nutrition is key to repairing muscles and easing soreness by providing your body with the nutrients it needs. I like to refuel with a high-protein shake with whole foods and Pure Protein whey powder. A shake like that is guaranteed to fill your body with key nutrients. Since life can get busy, keeping a high-protein snack, like a Pure Protein bar, in your gym bag is an easy way to help replenish your energy and rebuild muscle after your workout.”
