George Floyd Protest Pics From Minneapolis, LA, NYC & More
A graffiti mural showing the late George Floyd is seen in Berlin, Germany, on May, 30 2020. A bystander’s video posted online on May 25, appeared to show George Floyd, 46, pleading with arresting officers that he couldn’t breathe as white police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. He continued to kneel on his neck 2 minutes and 53 seconds after Floyd became unresponsive. George — an unarmed black man — later died in police custody. George begged and pleaded “Please”, ‘Don’t kill me’ and ‘I can’t breathe’ as he attempted to save his own life. Officer Chauvin was later arrested and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter for Floyd’s death. In the days after George’s death, a series of demonstrations took place throughout Minneapolis, New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta and many other cities. The events were organised by groups fighting racial inequality as a peaceful demonstration in memory of George Floyd and against police brutality. See photos of the protests here.
