Jane Campion, 67, is an incredibly influential writer and director. The Australian-based, New Zealand-born auteur has been a staple of the entertainment industry for over 30 years. One of her first major successes in the United States came in 1994, when she won a Best Original Screenplay Academy Award for her 1993 period piece ‘The Piano.’
Since her first Oscar-winning movie, Jane has worked with tons of stars, including Kirsten Dunst, Nicole Kidman, Harvey Keitel, and Benedict Cumberbatch. She is also the first female director to be nominated for the Best Director category at the Oscars in 2022, when she received a nod from the Academy for her 2021 movie ‘The Power of the Dog.’ The movie received a total of 12 nominations for the 93rd Annual Academy Awards, more than any other film that year, with Jane being included in three of the movie’s nominations.
