Wow, this is totally shocking. Jen lost her mother Nancy on May 25 after a series of strokes, according to InTouch. The 79 year old has been ailing for some time, and is said to have lost the ability to walk and talk in the time before her death.
“It is with great sadness that my brother John [Melick] and I announce the passing of our mother Nancy Dow,” the actress said in a statement to Us Weekly. “She was 79 years old and passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends after enduring a long illness. We ask that our family’s privacy be respected as we grieve our loss.”
Jen has been very publicly struggling with her relationship to her mother for years. The pair is estranged, but she chose to visit her on May 15, about two weeks before Nancy died. “Jen must have had a wake-up call and wanted to see her mother one last time before she passes,” an insider told InTouch.

Nancy was not invited to Jen’s wedding to either current husband Justin Theroux or former husband Brad Pitt, so this feud has stretched nearly two decades or longer. Jen was criticized in 2016 for refusing to help her mother as she became sicker. Luckily, they seemed to reach some sort of peace as Jen visited her North Hollywood apartment on May 15. “I think Jen’s already said her goodbyes,” reports InTouch. We hope she’s doing okay.
