This is SO sad! Joey King, 17, jumped on Instagram for some extra support after her older sister, Kelli King, 24, was hit by an 18-wheeler semi-truck while cycling to work on Oct. 11. “For those that don’t know, my sister Kelli was in a terrible accident where she was hit by an 18 wheeler semi truck while bicycling to work yesterday morning,” the Independence Day: Resurgence actress wrote in a post on her Instagram account. While this is still very scary for the King family, everyone will be happy to know that Kelli is on her way to a full recovery! “She’s in great hands and is on the road to recovery. I’m just unbelievably grateful that she’s alive,” she added. “Please keep her in your thought(s).”

Joey’s other sister, Hunter King, 22, also posted an image on Instagram on Oct. 12, to share how thankful she is that her sister is still alive. “My homie since day one,” Hunter wrote under a throwback image of the sisters. “Kelli I’m so thankful that you’re okay. God was lookin out for you yesterday. I love you so much and you bet your a** I’m gonna call you everyday to bug you and remind you how much you’re loved.”  She also encouraged others to keep their loved ones close. “Gotta hold the loved ones tight and be thankful for each day… not even a semi truck can stop you,” she added. SO sweet!

Shortly after the outpour of support and love, Kelli also jumped on social media to show that she was doing slightly better. “Thank you for all the well wishes everyone! I am so thankful to be alive and on the road to recovery,” a badly bruised Kelli wrote under an image of her in the hospital.

We are SO glad that Kelli is okay! She probably has a long journey ahead of her before she’ll be up and cycling again, but we’re happy to see her still here with us. Get well soon, Kelli!
