It's been one year since the horrifying weekend when Lamar Odom nearly died from a massive drug overdose. Where is the former NBA star one year after the life changing medical event?
Lamar Odom, 35, overdosed on a deadly mixture of drugs at a brothel in Las Vegas on October 13, 2015 after a three-day bender with prostitutes. The former LA Lakers star was rushed to the hospital on life support, and barely survived the ordeal. What followed was months of hospitalization, therapy and a struggle to survive.
After suffering 12 strokes, Lamar could not walk, and could barely talk. There was great fear that he would have limited cognitive function after the overdose, but through intensive physical therapy, and mental therapy, he miraculously recovered! He had to overcome another hurdle when his kidneys became failing. He was put on dialysis, and then on the kidney transplant list.
After nearly three months in the hospital, he transitioned to rehab in Los Angeles in January 2016. By his side during this whole terrifying journey was his estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian. Khloe bravely called off their divorce proceedings so that she could provide him with the best healthcare possible. She even moved him to rehab close to her house so that she could keep an eye on him. Throughout the early months of 2016, it seemed like Khloe and Lamar might make it work after all! They had tons of romantic outings, including a trip to NYC when he was feeling better, where they took a helicopter ride on Valentine’s Day!

But Khloe wound up filing for divorce again, officially, in May 2016. Despite the harrowing experience of nearly dying in his 30s, leaving behind his children and his loved ones, Lamar started drinking and partying again. He was spotted in the early morning hours of Easter Sunday, in August 2016, drinking at a bar before he was supposed to spend the day with the Kardashian/Jenner family! He showed up to their fun bash with the kiddos wearing the same clothes and everything. It was just too much for Khloe to take after everything he put her through.
Even losing the love of his life wasn’t enough for Lamar to get help for his addiction issues. In July 2016, he was kicked off a Delta flight at LAX for boarding drunk and vomiting. As of October 2016, he’s allegedly still not sober; baseball legend Darryl Strawberry said his family reached out for help with his drinking habits!
