She has been singing, dancing, and acting since she was a young child. She got her degree from the Beijing Film Academy in 2006. For some time, Liu lived in New York City with her mother prior to returning back to China for her education.
She hit the jackpot last August when it was announced that Liu would portray the titular role in the live action remake of ‘Mulan,’ 21 years after the Disney animated film came out. Liu was in the running for the role of Mulan against more than 1,000 people – talk about standing out among a crowd!
