Marteen — Exclusive Photos
The future belongs to Marteen. Born Marteen Estevez, the Berkley, California native grew up in a music household, and found his love for performing early on. He also discovered a knack for social media. Both would transform him into a superstar. At age 12, he taught himself guitar with instructional videos off of YouTube. Around that age, he started posting covers of pop songs to his Instagram account. Marteen started blowing up, which drew the attention of record labels. He guested on “What’s All About” by his older cousin, Kehlani, when he was just 13. Marteen would open for his cousin, Fifth Harmony and Bryson Tiller before releasing his debut studio EP, ‘NOTHANKYOU.’ The lead track from it, ‘Siracha,’ would find love in Korea, which led to Marteen appearing on NCT 127’s song, ‘What We Talkin’ Bout.’ In 2019, Marteen released his follow-up mixtape, ‘8.’ The project also featured NCT 127’s TAEYONG on the song, ‘Mood.’

Marteen Is Fly
Marteen, photographed here in 2018, explain to HollywoodLife the nature behind the title of his project ‘8.’
‘There’s a lot of special meaning to me, but it’s my favorite number. It’s my lucky number The main reason why I called it 8 is because I love when it turns to the side, it’s the infinity sign and when I put this music out it’s here forever and anything I do, I just want it to last forever.”
Marteen Poses For HollywoodLife
“Maybe one day I help direct [my videos], but I feel like I kind of like putting trust in somebody else for that and okay-ing different things and stuff like that,” Marteen told HollywoodLife. “But I’m definitely a part of the process.”
Marteen Is The Coolest In The Room
My song, Sriracha, started blowing up out there on [the Korean] version of Spotify called Melon,” he told HollywoodLife. ” It was on a TV show and then, because the song is so big, maybe that’s how Taeyong found out about it. And then he danced to one of my songs, ‘We Cool,’ on a V live or a live chat and then that’s how I found out about NCT 127 and it kind of all just connected.”
