The Oakland Raiders (founded in 1960), now the Las Vegas Raiders are a professional American football team. The Raiders compete in the National Football League (NFL) in the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. In 1982, the team departed Oakland to play in Los Angeles through the 1994 season. In 1995, the Raiders returned to Oakland. In March of 2017, NFL team owners had a near unanimous vote to approve the Raiders’ application to relocate to Las Vegas. In January of 2020, the Raiders officially relocated to Las Vegas to begin playing their home games at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. In the team’s history, the Raiders have won three Super Bowl championships: 1976 (XI), 1980 (XV), 1983 (XVIII); and four AFC championships: 1976, 1980, 1983, 2002.
