‘Cheer’ is a Netflix documentary series that follows the competitive cheerleaders of Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. Led by Monica Aldama, the small junior college has won 14 National Championships since 2000.
The stakes on the mat are high, but for these athletes, the only thing more brutal than their workouts and more exceptional than their performances are the stories of adversity and triumph behind the team members themselves. The series consists of 6 episodes and the Navarro College cheerleaders face everything from injuries to personal setbacks to triumphs. It all leads up to the final competition at the National Championship in Daytona, Florida. The series has become a huge hit. Reese Witherspoon, Sam Heughan, Simone Biles, Anna Camp, Gabrielle Union, Beanie Feldstein, and Iggy Azalea are just a few celebrities who have raved about ‘Cheer’ on social media.
