Dakota, who is the daughter of actress Melanie Griffith and actor Don Johnson, first made her first major acting debut in the film ‘Crazy in Alabama’ in 1999. In the film, she and her sister, Stella Banderas, played the daughters of their real-life mother, Melanie. Dakota was chosen as Miss Golden Globe in 2006 and became the first second-generation Miss Golden Globe in the title’s history.
In addition to acting, Dakota has worked as a model with IMG Models. Some of her modeling work was for MANGO brand jeans in 2009 and the ‘Rising Star’ campaign for the Australian fashion label Wish in 2011.
Her breakthrough acting role came in 2015 when she starred in the popular film ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’. She went on to also star in the second and third films of the series and paved her way as a high-profile actress in the film industry. Since the first ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ film, Dakota has starred in other notable films, including ‘How To Be Single’, ‘Bad Times at the El Royale’, and ‘The Peanut Butter Falcon’, which made its debut at South by Southwest in Mar. 2019.
