‘Poms’ Film Premiere
Pam Grier, Jacki Weaver, Diane Keaton and Rhea Perlman all star in ‘Poms,’ a new film by Zara Hayes, that follows a group of women in a retirement home who decide to start a cheerleading squad. “About 5 years ago, I came across this team in Arizona called the Sun City Poms who were doing that. I saw these pictures of them and just thought, this is awesome and it speaks to me because it says so much about women. All the women just defying society’s conventions of what is expected of women and, their doing it on their own terms and they’re doing it for themselves, not for anybody else. I just thought that’s really empowering and I want to make a film about that,” Zara revealed to HollywoodLife in an EXCLUSIVE interview about her inspiration behind the film.
