Rae Sremmurd is a hip-hop duo from Tulepo, Mississippi, comprised of twin brothers Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi. The brothers started rapping when they were young teens, and worked their way up through the industry to success. Swae and Slim’s mom kicked them out of the house after they were caught skipping school constantly to work on their music. Years later, they were noticed by Mike WiLL Made-It, who put them on one of his songs in 2013, and signed them to his EarDrummers label later that year. Rae Sremmurd is “Ear Drummers” backward — get it? Rae Sremmurd became famous for their hit single, “Black Beatles,” and have now released three studio albums. They also left Mike’s label, and started their own in 2016. They’ve used StremmLife to sign artists they worked with before they were famous, in Mississippi.
Here’s the duo is seen performing at the Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life concert in Los Angeles, following the young rapper’s overdose. To see more pics of Rae Sremmurd, scroll through this gallery.
