Wells Adams wanted JoJo Fletcher’s final rose in Season 12 of ‘The Bachelorette,’ but as most love stories go, he received his final rose from someone totally unexpected instead — ‘Modern Family’ star Sarah Hyland! After given the boot on ‘The Bachelorette,’ he returned for three seasons of ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ as the hotel bartender. The new role caught Sarah’s eye, as Wells was already her favorite from ‘The Bachelorette’! ‘OH MY GOD @WellsAdams IS THE FRIKKIN BARTENDER?! Best. Season. Ever. #BachelorInParadise,’ Sarah tweeted in Aug. 2017, which prompted Wells to reply, ‘Taking applications for #BIP5 bar backs now. Please send references..Preferably from Phil Dunphy. I’m kidding the job is yours.’
The Twitter exchange led to a DM on Wells’ behalf, which eventually led to a first date over tacos and drinks in Los Angeles in Sept. 2017. Wells met Sarah just three days before the ABC star underwent a serious operation for a second kidney transplant, but he remained by her side — they were an official couple by Halloween, and even wore matching ‘Stranger Things’ costumes!
From there, Wells and Sarah quickly established themselves as the role model couple of Hollywood. They can’t keep their hands off one another, whether that be on the red carpet or on vacation. By the late summer of 2018, Wells and Sarah moved in together in LA (Wells is from Nashville). They took the relationship a step further by becoming engaged in July 2019, when Wells dropped down on one knee at a tropical beach!
