‘Scream’ was a game-changer for the horror genre when it was released on December 20, 1996. The fifth film in the franchise is being released on January 14. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette are back as their iconic characters — Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Dewey Riley.
Neve returns as the one and only Sidney Prescott, the ultimate final girl. Ghostface just can’t kill this one. In addition to ‘Scream’ movies over the years, Neve has also starred on shows like ‘House of Cards,’ ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ and ‘Mad Men.’ She starred alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in the feature film ‘Skyscraper.’ Now 25 years after first playing Sidney, Neve is reprising her most legendary role alongside Courteney, David, and newbies Melissa Barrera, Jack Quaid, Jenna Ortega, Dylan Minnette, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Mikey Madison.

David Arquette
David Arquette stars as Dewey Riley. Dewey, along with Sidney and Gale, is a surviving original character. David reunites with Neve Campbell and ex Courteney Cox in the fifth ‘Scream’ film. David has starred in countless films since the original ‘Scream’s release.
In addition to acting, David is also a professional wrestler who won the World Championship Wrestling heavyweight title in 2000. He starred in a documentary about his life ‘You Cannot Kill David Arquette.’
Courteney Cox
Courteney Cox played news reporter Gale Weathers in ‘Scream.’ She remains one of the surviving original characters. She’ll be back in the fifth ‘Scream.’
Courteney recently reunited with her ‘Friends’ castmates for ‘Friends: The Reunion’ in May 2021. She is set to star in the upcoming comedy series ‘Shining Vale.’
Skeet Ulrich
Skeet Ulrich played Billy Loomis in the original ‘Scream.’ He ended up being one of the original killers, alongside Stu Macher. Billy’s character was killed by Sidney Prescott.
Skeet has starred in series like ‘Jericho’ and ‘Law and Order: LA.’ He notably played FP Jones in the first 4 seasons of ‘Riverdale.’
Matthew Lillard
Matthew Lillard played Stu Macher in ‘Scream.’ He was one of the original killers alongside Billy Loomis. Stu died after Sidney threw a TV on his face.
After ‘Scream,’ Matthew played the role of Shaggy in two live-action Scooby-Doo movies. He continues to voice the role in animated projects. From 2018 to 2021, he starred in the TV series ‘Good Girls.’
Jamie Kennedy
Jamie Kennedy played Randy Meeks, a film geek and one of Sidney’s friends. Randy survives the first film, but he’s killed off in the sequel.
Randy has starred in several TV shows and movies, including ‘Ghost Whisperer’ and ‘The Cleveland Show.’ He is also a stand-up comedian and podcast host.
Rose McGowan
Rose McGowan played Tatum Riley. Tatum was Dewey’s sister and Sidney’s best friend. She’s killed by Ghostface and crushed by a garage door.
Rose went on to star as Paige Matthews on ‘Charmed’ from 2001 to 2006. Rose was one of the first women to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault. She became one of the key figures of the #MeToo movement. She released a memoir and a four-part documentary series ‘Citizen Rose’ in 2018.
Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore plays Casey Becker. Casey is the first kill of ‘Scream’ and one of the most brutal. Casey’s death is one of the most iconic moments in movie history.
Drew became one of Hollywood’s rom-com queens with movies like ‘Never Been Kissed,’ ‘The Wedding Singer,’ ’50 First Dates,’ and more. She also starred in two ‘Charlie’s Angels’ movies. Her talk show, ‘The Drew Barrymore Show,’ premiered in September 2020.
Liev Schreiber
Liev Schreiber played Cotton Weary in the ‘Scream’ franchise. He was initially suspected of killing Sidney’s mother, Maureen, but it was later revealed in the first movie that he was innocent. He was killed off in ‘Scream 3.’
He began starring as Ray Donovan in the Showtime series of the same name in 2013. The show came to an end in 2020 but a movie will be released in 2022.
Henry Winkler
Henry Winkler played Principal Himbry in ‘Scream.’ Himbry was killed by the Ghostface killers. The ‘Happy Days’ alum has starred in dozens of TV shows and movies since 1996. He currently plays acting coach Gene Cousineau on ‘Barry.’
