Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo, more popularly known as Jhené Aiko, is an American singer and songwriter. She started out in the entertainment industry by contributing vocals to songs by the likes of R&B group B2K.
She eventually left Sony (the label B2K was signed under) and released her first full-length project in November 2013 under a recording contract with American record producer No I.D., who distributed his music through Def Jam Recordings. Aiko’s project was an extended play titled ‘Sail Out.’ And if you are any kind of fan of hers, you know that this EP included her iconic singles “3:16AM”, “Bed Peace” and “The Worst.” The latter track even went on to become certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Today, the artist has taken home at least two awards, including the BET Her Award in 2014 and the Soul Train Music Award for Best Collaboration in 2015.
