Shawn Mendes admitted 'when you know, you know' while talking about his 'future' and the closeness he shares with girlfriend Camila Cabello.
Shawn Mendes, 22, revealed how close he and girlfriend Camila Cabello, 23, and their families have gotten since they started dating in July 2019, in a new interview, and also sparked marriage speculation when he admitted they talk about the future of their lives together. “It’s like a real partner, a partner in crime, you have someone to bounce any ideas off of,” he said when discussing his relationship with Camila on the Zach Sang Show on Dec. 5. “The hardest ideas, which is the life ones, and yeah, we always talk about that stuff.”
The singer went on to admit that his dad, Manuel Mendes, has grown so fond of Camila, that he refers to her as his “daughter-in-law”. “My dad is never very serious about things, but he would always bug me and be like, ‘How’s my daughter-in-law doing?’,” he explained before going on to talk about marriage. “Obviously your parents don’t know, but when you know you know, but I definitely went to them a lot about it.”
Shawn also opened up about his serious romance with the “Havana” crooner and the possibility of marriage in a Dec. 4 interview with Entertainment Tonight. “Yeah, absolutely, I think for me it’s always been if I’m not willing to talk about that stuff then I kind of check out a little bit, and I don’t know, I really think when you know, you know,” he told the outlet about his lady love. “She’s been one of my best friends since I was, like, 15 years old. I don’t know, at the same time, I know we are really young so I don’t want to jump, like, insanely fast, but I think when you find your person, you feel and you know that you have found your person.”
Shawn’s confessions about his relationship with Camila come after the two have been spending a lot of time together at her family’s home in Miami, FL ever since the COVID-19 pandemic started causing lockdowns earlier this year. The lovebirds have been sharing various moments of their time in quarantine with fans on social media and some of their most recent posts revealed they are now dog parents to their new puppy, Tarzan. In the pics and videos they shared, the blonde pooch, which appeared to be either a Labrador or golden retriever, looked adorable while happily cuddling with Camila in a car as Shawn drove.
“Hi Tarzan,” Shawn captioned a puppy post, leading fans to express their enthusiastic congrats over the new addition. Tarzan joins Camila’s other dogs, including her Shih Tzu Leo, her chihuahua Eugene and German Shepherd Thunder, so it’s definitely not a lonely household! It’s great to see Shawn and Camila enjoying their time together and taking in the little moments with family during this challenging year. We hope to see more cute snapshots and videos soon!
