Madison Beer holding a sign
Since the May 25 death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers, protests across the country have continued on. Peaceful demonstrations have accrued thousands of people in cities like Los Angeles, New York City, and Minneapolis, where George Floyd lost his life after a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, used his knee to press George’s neck into the pavement during an attempted arrest. George went unconscious and later died as a result of asphyxia later that night. On May 29, Derek was charged with third degree murder and manslaughter.
Many celebs have used their platform since that time to protest racial injustice, police brutality and stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. Stars like Madison Beer have become incredibly vocal, joining protestors on the front lines. More celebs have put themselves at risk of arrest, much like Cole Sprouse did in Santa Monica. But these celebs are using their platform for something that is so vital for the country — and world — to progress into the future.
