Nicosia, Cyprus
September 20, 2019 is a date that will go down in our grandchildren’s history textbooks. Students in 150 countries across the world walked out of school together for the 2019 Global Strike to demand action for their governments about climate change. The world is burning, and the adults in charge are just standing there instead of calling 911. Led by 16-year-old environmental activist Greta Thunberg, the kids are participating in Fridays for Future, and leaving their classes for the day. Greta has protested every Friday since April 2018 in front of the Swedish Parliament building to make her voice heard, and she’s now an international icon. She spoke at the rally in New York City ahead of the UN climate summit, after speaking before Congress. From Kiribati in the Pacific islands, to Berlin, Germany, and over 1000 cities in the United States, students are making their voices heard!
