‘The Queen’s Gambit’ is a new limited series that’s now streaming on Netflix. The show, which has hit #1 on Netflix in just a few days, is a coming-of-age story that explores the life of Beth Harmon, who discovers she has an astonishing talent for chess while living at a Kentucky orphanage. She also develops an addiction to tranquilizers provided by the state as a sedative for the children. While haunted by her personal demons, Beth transforms into a skilled chess player and strives to be the best there is. ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ is directed and written by two-time Academy Award nominee Scott Frank and executive produced by Frank, William Horberg, and Allan Scott, who also co-created the series.
