“Vanessa and Zac are on bad terms and they don’t want to see each other. Things would be awkward and there would be a lot of issues that would come up and they wouldn’t feel comfortable faking it in front of cameras,” a source revealed to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “They had a horrible breakup and she really doesn’t want to hear his name let alone be in the same room with him. To say she was relieved he wasn’t there is an understatement. She probably wouldn’t have done it had he confirmed showing up for it.”
Luckily for Vanessa, Zac couldn’t make it to the reunion. But while Zac’s absence might have been a relief to Vanessa, HSM fans were NOT happy with Zac! The day before the 10th anniversary, fans took to Twitter to express their frustration with him. Vanessa may not want to believe it, but a High School Musical reunion isn’t complete without Troy Bolton!
Although Zac wasn’t part of the anniversary special, Monique Coleman happened to show Vanessa footage from her audition with Zac. Apparently Monique isn’t aware of Vanessa’s not-so-fond feelings about her ex! As amazing as the throwback video was, it had to have been totally uncomfortable for Vanessa to watch considering the terms they’re on these days!
Since Vanessa didn’t have to encounter Zac for the HSM reunion, she joined Monique, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, and Corbin Bleu in reminiscing on the movie that made them all best friends. Ironically, Vanessa admitted that her favorite scene was a romantic rooftop number with Zac. She may not be a huge fan of Zac anymore, but clearly Vanessa has a little soft spot for the days of being Troy and Gabriella!
