Zayn Malik, 23, and Taylor Swift, 26, just dropped their amazing song “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” on Dec. 8, and we felt the need to relive this priceless video of Zayn singing a cover of Taylor’s song in his bedroom years ago. WATCH him sing “You Belong With Me” above!

“So. Zayn Malik here, and I’m going to try a cover of “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift,” Zayn says, introducing the video. “I’m going to change the lyrics a bit, obviously, because…girl lyrics. I’m going to change it up a bit. Tell me what you think!” He looks so cute in his t-shirt, beanie and glasses — and clearly, Zayn has been a Taylor fan for quite some time!
He then plays a karaoke track on his iPad and sings the words, changing the chorus to: “He wears Ray-Bans, I wear glasses, he wears sweats and I wear chinos…” So cute!
Flash-forward to 2016, where Zayn is a global phenomenon thanks to the success of One Direction and his subsequent solo career. He’s definitely polished up his act, but as we can see in ancient videos like these, the raw talent has been there all along! “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” is a total jam, and if you haven’t taken a listen yet, do so immediately. We’re so pumped that Zayn finally got to collaborate with one of his favorite artists!
