Electoral College Certification Riots: Photos
Disorder and chaos broke out on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, when an unprecedented assault, led by Trump supporters ,took siege of the Capitol building. Congress was preparing to affirm President-elect Joe Biden’s victory to the White House, when thousands of people gathered to storm the building to their blind support for President Donald Trump and his ludicrous claims of election fraud.
The situation quickly escalated, egged on my Trump’s tweets and rally earlier in the day, as the mobs stormed the Capitol shortly after 1pmEST. They pushed through barricades set up along the perimeter, for finally smashing through windows and making their way through the front door of the house at 3pmEST. An armed standoff took place just at the door, with police officers drawing their guns on the attackers. Soon, the mobsters made their way in, standing at the Senate Dais, rifling through desks, breaking into Nancy Pelosi’s office, and more.
Here are photos of the scene, continuing to unfold in Washington D.C. Our thoughts are with the US representatives, their staffers, the police, and all those under attack today.
